Making of Tar and Setar

This was my first film for public viewing for Chaneel 56 back in 1993. I wanted to make a film about Iranian traditional musical instruments, and I met Ahmad Rahmanipur who bul these instruments as well as teaching them, and visited his wood shop, and shot the rest of the footage at Channel 56 studios in Pasadena. The material was shot on Sony's 3/4" U-Matic format, and edited in the studio. There was so much time conflict to edit films at that time between different film makers. A typical editing station with 3 monitors cost around $150,000. In less than 10 years, digital took over, and shortly after,  anyone could make movies on their Mac lap top.
