This film covers the ideas, and life of Dr.Ali Shariati, the most influential intellectual in contemporary Iran. Dr. Shariati studied sociology, and history at La Sorbonne Univerity in Paris, and developed close ties with the leaders of Algerian revolution during his school days. When he returned to Iran, he was invited to give lectures at a mosque in central Tehran called Hosseinieh Ershad. This mosque is now known in many Middle East countries because of the impact his lectures had on Iranian youth. I was 12 at the time, and my older brother took me a few times to hear his lectures (which I think I mostly fell asleep through it). My recollection from entering the fully packed auditorium is in this movie.
